John Warren Smith, 84, of Gloucester, passed on to be with the Lord on Jan. 28, 2015 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

He retired from Anheuser-Busch and then used his knowledge of mechanics repairing boat motors or doing any mechanical work his friends needed. He loved his work and was a hard worker. In his pastime he also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arletta N. Smith; parents, Edward and Viola Smith; brothers, Billy Smith and Bernard Smith, and sister, Mildred Riley.

He is survived by his son, Warren Smith and wife Esther. 

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Wendell Gaffney were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Petsworth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
