John T. "Johnny" Givans, 85, of Gloucester, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Gloucester County, and was the son of the late John Hammond and Ellen Mae Hatch Givans.
Johnny was a master carpenter having worked all over the Middle Peninsula. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertie B. Givans; daughter, Nancy G. Burress and her husband Edward; son, Tommy Givans; two granddaughters, Lisa McGee and her husband Donnie, and Amanda Eubank and her husband Brian, and two great-granddaughters, Katelyn Eubank and Courtney McGee.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home by Pastor Richard Ford and Pastor Ray Goude. Interment was in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
