John Peter “Pete” Mancini of Gloucester, born on May 29, 1938, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the age of 85.
Predeceased by his son, Michael Shawn Mancini, Pete leaves behind his wife, June W. Mancini; five children, Elizabeth Michelle Mancini, Ava Sharon Mancini, Gregory Shea Mancini, John Peter “JP” Mancini II and Tara Mancini Stevens; three stepchildren, Adam Haile Sauvager, Erin Paige Sauvager and Megan Sauvager Snyder, and 10 grandchildren.
Pete Mancini was CEO, President and owner of J.P. Mancini, Inc., food brokerage offices in Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia and President of J.P. Mancini, Inc. real estate investments, developing, and rentals.
He served as past President of Holy Angels School in Lakeside, Virginia, past President of Richmond Food Brokers Association, past President of the Grocery Manufacturers Representative Association, and the Virginia State Representative for the National Food Brokers Association.
His Italian heritage gave him the love of olive oil, garlic and tomatoes, and all that entered his home knew they would never leave hungry.
Pete continued to be a dedicated Washington Redskins fan.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Woody’s Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23238.
In lieu of flowers, he requested donations made to Catholic Charities or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
