John “Jack” Rollins, age 83, of Hayes, died at his home on May 25, 2023. Jack graduated from Poquoson High School in 1957 where he played football, basketball, baseball and was a member of the Junior OddFellows. He was employed at BASF of Williamsburg, retiring after 35 years. Jack joined the Army Reserves after high school and served for 10 years. He had strong ties to his Poquoson community and coached Little League for multiple years and served on the board. He also held various offices in the J.O.U.A.M., Poquoson Jaycees, and Scout Golf Club. Jack was an avid hunter, golfer and loved the competition of a good card or dominoes game. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, R.R. “Doty” Rollins and Fannie Forrest Rollins; sister, Janet Sue Cross and brother, W.R. “Randy” Rollins. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Susan; five sons, Robert Rollins, Scott Rollins (Lynn), Shawn Rollins, Michael Condra (Caitlin), Sean Condra (Meggin), and sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Sellers and Judy Neil; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, along with his sister-in-law, Lucille Rollins. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Paul Song. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be private. In memory of Jack, contributions may be made to J.O.U.A.M Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 2021, Poquoson, Va. 23662.
