JOHN H. ‘BUDDY’ CARVER

John H. “Buddy” Carver, of Yorktown, a cherished and well-known figure in York and Gloucester communities, passed away at age 84 on April 14, 2025. He was a certified motorcycle mechanic and motocross racer, a pilot with a love for flying personal aircraft, and a talented photographer who taught and practiced both wedding and aerial photography. His final professional chapter was as a physics instructor, teaching at both the high school and community college levels and leading professional development for teachers at universities across the state.

A lifetime member of the Lafayette Gun Club, Buddy was a strong advocate for gun safety and enjoyed competitive target shooting.

Buddy is survived by Jennifer Carver, his wife of 40 years; daughter, Lindsey Carver (Kevin Howell); son, John W. Carver; granddaughter, Meagan Carver; stepson, Tommy Powell; stepdaughter, Melanie Johnson (Brad), and brother-in-law, Danny Sydow.
