It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of John B. “Pooney” Williams Jr., 93, of Bena, on March 8, 2024. John was the son of the late John B. Williams and Bert Shackelford Williams. He attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church, and retired from Fass Seafood, also known as Cook’s Seafood. Pooney loved NASCAR, the Miami Dolphins football, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams, and watching UVA men’s basketball. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Jack Williams and Jennings Williams, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, R. Patricia Williams of 70 years; children, Jonathan Williams (Tanya), Susan W. Tetreault, Velvet Fitchett (Bob); grandchildren, Virginia Harrell (Matt), Jerri Williams and Jeannie Burton (Rodney); great-grandchildren, Brenner Harrell and Chase Burton (Maria); nieces, Alice M. Chapman (Johnny) and Bettie A. Jenkins. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Bill West will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. John had a wonderful support group of family, in-laws, neighbors, and friends throughout the years, and we would like to thank all of them for their help and kindness.
