John A. “Jack” Gordon, age 87, of Mathews, died at his home on Monday, May 4, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born May 26, 1933 in Taunton, Massachusetts, to the late John and Mary Arruda Gordon. John was a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, having served with distinction for 27 years, including several years on the Presidential Squadron for Dwight D. Eisenhower, multiple deployments, and two tours in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, his brother, Dennis Gordon, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Janice Kessinger Gordon; two sons, Jay (Susan) Gordon, of Cary, N.C., Scott (Theresa) Gordon of Stephentown, N.Y.; a daughter, Kelli (Harry) Belvin of Gloucester, Va.; seven grandchildren, Brody, Rachel, Maria, Maggie and John Gordon, Jared and Abbi Belvin; two step-grandchildren, Rebekah and Sarah McCracken; one step-great-grandson, Hunter Lawson; brother-in-law, Doyle Kessinger of Dixon, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Kayleen (Don) Elson of Omaha, Neb., Joanne Gordon of Hyannis, Mass., and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Alberton G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434.
