Joey Benjamin Johnson, 29, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 9 at 4 p.m. at the Church of God of Kenly, 7046 N.C. 581, Kenly, N.C. Pastor Jason Gabbard conducted the service. A private service will be held in Gloucester, Virginia, at a later date.

Joey is survived by his son, Jace Johnson; mother, Arleigh Hogge of Gloucester; father, Lewis Johnson and wife Cathy of Bailey, N.C.; sister, Heather Johnson and wife Thais of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Becky Phillips of Wendell, N.C.; brother, Grey Johnson of Bailey; and grandfather, Stephen Guy Hogge of Gloucester; aunt and uncle, Diana and Gray Wooten of Gloucester; and uncle, Stephen A. Hogge and spouse Jennylyn of Angeles, Philippines.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandmother, Araksy Hogge; grandmother, Doris Johnson; and grandfather, James “Pops” Johnson.
