JoAn Crowley Shoemaker, 71 of Deltaville, Va., died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Dec. 24, 2014 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.

JoAn lived a faith filled and loving life toward her family and many friends. Ever grateful and concerned for others, she made a friend of all she met. JoAn was skilled in fashion and interior design. She was a devout Catholic and frequent volunteer in the church throughout her life. JoAn’s love and compassion for all were ever present throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Shoemaker; daughter, Kimberly Shoemaker and fiancé Eric Sutton; son, Rob Shoemaker; sister, Myrna Meehan; brother, Dr. Joe Crowley and wife Sue; brother, John Crowley; numerous nieces and nephews, and her family of friends.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at The Church of the Visitation in Topping, Va., at 1 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2015. Visitation for family and friends will commence at 11:30 a.m. prior to the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, as a “tribute gift” to the special fund established in her name.
