Jessie Jean “Jay Jay” Davis (Millen) left this life Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1962. She was a native of the Denbigh area of Newport News, and graduated from Denbigh High School.
Jessie worked for Crown Central Petroleum for 23 years. Upon the firm’s sale, Jay Jay decided to retire, after which she started “County Girls Cleaning” where she worked until her illness forced her to retire again. Jay Jay and her husband, Ira Millen, moved to York County in June 2002 and resided there until her death.
Although she lived for years in Newport News, she loved spending time at her grandmother’s home, Ms. Thelma Ruth Owens McMann, who lived in Port Haywood, Virginia.
She was predeceased by her parents, Sidney “Dave” Davis and Maxine Davis; her brothers, Sidney, “Butch” Davis, Danny Davis, and Bruce Davis. She is survived by her husband, Ira Millen; daughter, Aimee Jo Childers (Daniel Staples), and grandson, Kayden H. Staples; sisters-in-law, Sheryl Davis, Carolyn Millen, and Nancy Bolton; brothers-in-law, Dallas Millen (Sharon), Stewart Millen, and Gene Millen (Kim); stepchildren, Eve Eggleston (Brian) Preston Millen and Nicholas Millen; nephews, Brandon Davis and Nicholas Davis, and eight stepgrandchildren.
Thanks are extended to Ruth Koutsombinas, Jay Jay’s longtime special friend and caregiver during her trying times. Ruth has been a godsend.
Jay Jay loved traveling and spending time with her many lady friends and their spouses. She was always up for a new adventure and had a smile that could light up the darkest room.
