Jerry Lee Woodlief Sr., age 82, of Hayes, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born in North Carolina on November 11, 1941, to the late Henry Lepoe and Virginia Grace Smallwood Woodlief. He worked for 41 years at Newport News Shipbuilding in various positions, ending as an auditor. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 336 AF & AM in Warwick and Elks Lodge 366 in Hampton. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lena B. Woodlief, and his children, Jerry L. Woodlief Jr., Gregory Scott Woodlief Sr. (Laura), Scott Freeman (Anne), and James “Eddie” Freeman. He is also survived by his goddaughter, Jessica Hazelett (John), and his grandchildren, Morgan West (Mark), Megan Woodlief, Jerry Woodlief III, Cory Woodlief, Lauren Palmer (Jonathan), Taylor Witt (Hagan), Gregory Scott Woodlief Jr. (Mary-Paige), Seth Freeman, Joshua Freeman and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service with Masonic Funeral Rites was held at Hampton Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, conducted by Pastor Jay Serafin.
