Jerome C. Smith Sr., 73, of Gloucester, died on May 19, 2023.

He was a native of Mathews County, and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Gloucester, and its Usher Board, Inspirational Voices and Male Chorus.

Survivors include spouse, Arlean Clayborne; children, Tanya Smith and Jerome C. Smith Jr.; brothers, William H. Smith Jr. and Keefe Smith; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Smith Sr. and Thelma W. Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 in Zion Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Smith may be viewed from 1 p.m. until service time.
