JEREMY NATHAN KNIGHT

Jeremy Nathan Knight lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, and entered eternal rest.

Jeremy’s passing was peaceful and calm with “Bella” lying at his feet. Born on Dec. 19, 1981 in Newport News, Va., Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Gertrude Knight (Cumberland, Md.), and his maternal grandfather, Robert Herr (Gloucester, Va.). He is survived by his parents, Norm and Patrice Knight (Gloucester); his brother, Matthew Knight (Hampton, Va.), and his maternal grandmother, Doris Herr (Gloucester), along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Jeremy was nearly a lifelong Peninsula resident and a 2000 Tabb High School graduate. Jeremy founded and ran Burled and Knotted Community Workshop and Custom Woodworking in Newport News in 2016. Prior to that, he worked as a lead graphic design for computer-based instruction at several local companies. Jeremy was a talented woodworker and creative in his woodworking projects for many clients. His creativity spilled over into photography, drawings, leather work, and woodworking art projects.

The family deeply appreciates the personal care and attention provided by Riverside Cancer Center Teams in Newport News and Gloucester—especially Dr. George Kannarkat and Dr. Lori Gillespie and their clinicians. Special gratitude is expressed for the compassionate care also provided by the hospice clinicians of Riverside At Home Hospice Care in Gloucester, especially Dr. Sarah West. In all cases, the Riverside Teams were exceptional in their skills, service and compassion for Jeremy and his family.

Family and friends will be received at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church (2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, Va. 23666) on Friday, Nov. 18, from 10-11 a.m. with the memorial service starting at 11 o’clock. Pastor Brian Williams of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, Hampton, and Pastor John Pouchot of Petsworth Baptist Church, Gloucester, will officiate.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that a donation in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 429, Richmond, Va. 23218), Riverside Health System Foundation (RRMC Make a Difference Fund, Suite 1000, 701 Town Center Drive, Newport News, Va. 23606) or a charity of your choice. Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
