Jennifer “Jenny” Dishman Poole died on August 25, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Jenny was a longtime resident of Gloucester, Va. She was born on April 26, 1960 to O.L. Dishman and Margery S. Dishman in Newport News, Va. She attended Bethel High School before the family’s move to Atlanta, Ga., where she graduated from Lakeside H.S. in 1977. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Governmental Administration from CNC and later went on to receive her A.A.S. in Nursing from TNCC. Jenny dedicated herself to the loving care of her patients, first at Eastern State, in Williamsburg. She then went on to the Riverside Convalescent Center in Mathews, Va., where she was MDS coordinator for over 20 years before retiring in December 2022.
In 1992, Jenny married Jeffrey S. Poole. She and Jeff went on to raise two wonderful sons.
She was predeceased by father, O.L. (Dinky) Dishman, and mother, Margery S. Dishman, and survived by husband, Jeffrey S. Poole; sons, John S. Poole and Justin S. Poole (Kayla); sister, Pamela Dishman Coleman (George); nephews, Raymond B. Spiggle III and Linzie A. Coleman, and great-nephew, Gage M. Spiggle.
Her passion was for her family, friends and patients, wrapping her loving, caring spirit around them all. She always brought a smile to your face with her quick wit and warmth to your heart with her unending compassion. Jenny was a true friend to many, an amazing wife and the best mom. She will be greatly missed.
Per Jenny’s request, no memorial service or funeral service will be held. The family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in her honor.
