The Gloucester High School varsity girls came out flat last Thursday but still managed a 10-0 Peninsula District softball win over Hampton to improve to 14-1. The game scheduled at Woodside Tuesday was postponed because of rain.
Makayla Jenkins (12-1) pitched a no-hitter to the Crabbers with nine strikeouts. She also contributed four hits, including a triple in the third and sixth innings and a solo home run in the fourth. Shelby Alton had three hits and Gabby Zarichny and Noodle Allen each had a pair of hits, including a double apiece.
Gloucester will host Mathews High School in a fundraising game at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for high school students and $3 for children ages 12 and under. Proceeds will benefit the Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation.
