After a grueling and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma, Jeffrey Stuart Leiffer, age 51, died of heart complications on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at VCU Medical Center. A graduate of the 1990 class of Gloucester High School, Jeff continued his studies in Business at Christopher Newport University. Jeff worked in management in various corporations around the U.S., before settling back home in Virginia. These included Roses, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, Care-a-lot Pets, and most recently, Big Lots. Co-workers admired his work ethic and always found him to be easygoing and approachable. The simplest pleasures in life brought a smile to Jeff’s face. He loved being outdoors, especially at the beach. Having been an athlete who won the Michael Haury Humanitarian Award in high school, Jeff continued to be active in biking, ballroom dancing, and tennis with his soul mate, Roberta Bockrath. Over the past 14 months, Jeff might have been seen with his same relaxed attitude and sly smile while watching the Atlanta Braves win or playing a quiet game of dice. With a sweet spirit and joking manner, he remained ever hopeful. Survivors include his longtime partner and girlfriend, Roberta Bockrath; his parents, Jimmy and Sandra Leiffer; brother, Scott; sister-in-law, Lea; niece, Ranae, and nephew Derek. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester County, Virginia. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home. Conducting the service will be the Reverends Rita Staul and Jeff’s cousin, Joshua Wooley. Following the Celebration of Life service, friends and family are invited to join the family at the inurnment at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery and then at Sandra and Jimmy’s home following the inurnment.
