A memorial service for Jeffery Randall Smith, 58, of Abbeville, La., will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Williams Wharf, in Mathews. He died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.

He went to school in Mathews and later moved to Abbeville, where as a young man he worked as a fisherman.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Smith of Mathews; two sisters, Velvet Boyd and Sharon Washington, both of Gloucester, and two brothers, Welford T. Smith of Abbeville, and Jason Smith of Suffolk.

He was preceded in death by his father, Welford Smith, and two sisters, Darla Smith Robinson and Sandra Smith Carter.
