Jeffery “Jeff” Neal Harrell Sr., 44, of Cardinal, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, Richmond.

A Hampton native, Jeff made his home in Gloucester, Floyd, Colonial Heights, and Mathews. A 1988 graduate of Gloucester High School, Jeff graduated Magna Cum Laude from ECPI University in 2011, with a Computer and Information Science degree. He was employed by Tindall Corporation of Petersburg until his illness.

In his spare time he enjoyed science fiction and was a gifted artist, which he shared freely as a regular fan art contributor to Mecha Galaxy online gaming. Jeff was a loving husband and devoted father, son and brother.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Harrell, and son, Andrew Harrell.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen Harrell; son, Jeffery Harrell Jr.; daughter, Diane Harrell; mother, Emmalou Dotson-Harrell; sisters, Louann Eisenbrown and her husband Ike, and Debra Harrell; brother, James Harrell, and an extended family.

The family received friends Sunday, April 20, 2014, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Providence Baptist Church, Gloucester, with inurnment in the church cemetery. A reception was held following the service on Wednesday at DAV Chapter 58, located off Short Lane in Gloucester.
