JEAN PITTS SEAL

Jean Pitts Seal, 88, of Newtown, King and Queen County, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Francis Seal. Born in Salvia, Va., on January 21, 1936, daughter of the late William and Estelle Pitts. Jean loved working in her yard, cooking, and canning. She was happiest when she was riding the lawn mower. Jean worked at Litton Office Products for years and when retired, she and Francis cut lawns for people in the community. She made and served dinner for the King and Queen Ruritan Club monthly meetings for years after retirement. Jean was a member of Upper King and Queen Baptist Church where she was the third female deacon, taught Sunday School, was a GA and Acteen leader, WMU member and President, and a member of the choir. She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah S. Rhodes (Warner), Denise S. Sanzone, and Nancy S. Berryman; five grandchildren, Jennifer White-hurst, Robert Goff (Sandy), Jean Marie Handy (Nick), Rusty Goff, and Savannah Berryman; three step-grandchildren, Rachel Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes (Ellen), and Benjamin Rhodes (Lucy); four great-grandchildren, Summer Yeager (Dylan), Jewel Mitchell, Trinidy Goff, and Jordan Mitchell; two step-great-grandchildren, Beau and Helen Rhodes; two great-great-grandchildren, Caden and Walker Yeager; brother, William R. Pitts (Gertrude); sister, Susiette P. Jackson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Aylett Chapel of the B. W. White Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Upper King and Queen Baptist Church, 1693 Bradley Farm Road, Newtown, Va. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
