Jean Beverly Gossage Pritchard, age 82, of Hartfield, Va., died Feb. 19, 2014 at her home on Wilton Point.
Mrs. Pritchard was born in Bogalusa, La., on Oct. 8, 1932 and was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Gossage and Lilly Steckling Gossage, as well as her brothers, Tex Gossage and Charles R. Gossage Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Hiram Tyre Pritchard Jr. of Hartfield; one son, Christopher Noah Tyre Pritchard and wife Kristen Oney Pritchard of Gloucester. She had one grandson, Henry Noah Pritchard; one identical twin sister, Joan Gossage of Richmond, Va.; nephews, Charles R. Gossage Jr. and wife Pat of Summerfield, N.C., Timothy Gossage of Greensboro, N.C., Ronald and wife Marsha Gossage; nieces, Sherri McGee and husband Garry of Kernersville, N.C., Gail Gossage of Southport, N.C., and Wanda (Dee) Hyatt and husband Leigh of Ronks, Pa.; great-nieces and -nephews, Charlie R. Gossage III, Zachary Gossage, Jennifer Gossage, Jesse Gossage, Amanda and Seth Peters, Dustin Gossage, Christopher and Julie Jones.
Throughout her life Jean was a very hard-working woman, faithful wife, loving mother and doting grandmother.
A special thanks to her loving and highly competent caregivers, Pamela Bates and Darlene Rilee, as well as Riverside Hospice, who were all wonderful.
Funeral services were held at Lower United Methodist Church, Hartfield, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. There was a visitation before the service at 2 o’clock at the church.
Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda, was in charge of the arrangements.
