Jayvee Lady Devils pick up two wins on the diamond

One would expect after taking the long bus ride to Montross to face Washington & Lee, players would be slow moving and stiff from the extended trip.

That was not the case, however, as the jayvee Lady Devils’ softball team started and finished last Thursday night’s game strong. In front of bleachers that were full of parents and fans who made the trip in support, the girls came out on fire as the Lady Devils batted through the lineup completely before W&L could get three outs, jumping to a 7-0 lead in the first inning on the way to a 29-0 win.

Hunter Thomas and Allison Foster shared pitching duties to shut out the home team. Bailey Kujawski, Hannah Rowe, and Hailey Abernathy each had four hits. Amanda Miller, Taylor South, Carole Bell, Hunter Thomas, Harley Trammell, and Emily Hudgins had two hits apiece and Mallory Sanger and Whitney Eriksen contributed one hit each.
