Jason Michael Reese, 45, of Hayes, passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
God broke the mold after Jason was born to Janice and Curtis Reese on February 27, 1979. Jason graduated from Gloucester High School in 1997 and decided he want to pursue a career as a cook. He went on to graduate from Johnson & Wales with a degree in Culinary Arts. Jason became a locally renowned Chef, who ensured that every meal he made was filled with love and brought joy to his customers at Berret’s, River’s Inn, Opus 9, and finally at Creekside Café & Market.
Jason was known for his strawberry blonde hair and always greeted you with a sweet smile that if you did not know it yet, would make you a friend and become your friend for life. He was known for his gentle manner and would drop everything to help someone in need. Jason loved his Redskins (never Commanders), was meticulously organized (especially his tools), and took pride in making sure his yard was perfectly cut and trimmed. Jason was an animal lover, never being without a dog in his lap when he was at home with Keegan, Harper, Lilly, and Bowen. Fishing was something Jason loved, but never seemed to care if he caught anything; he just liked going and spending time with his friends.
Besides his parents, Jason is survived by his loving wife, Dorsie Reese; his adoring sister, Morgan Rivera (Dominic); brother, Ron Reese (Andrea); nephew, Hendrix Rivera; niece, Lena Reese; a host of aunts and cousins, and three special God children. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elwood and Eva West, as well as his paternal grandparents, Hershel and Annie Lou Reese.
We know this is not goodbye, but just see you later, Reese. A memorial service for Jason was held at Abingdon Ruritan Club, 8784 Guinea Road, Hayes, Virginia on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 3-6 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the team of nurses and doctors in the SICU and CCU that lovingly took care of Jason as he transitioned.
