Jared J. "Jerry" Holt Sr. of Hayes, went home to be with our Heavenly Father Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. He was at home with loved ones.
He loved NASCAR racing, especially the 24 team. He was a handyman by trade and loved helping others. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ethel Holt; seven brothers, and a daughter, Belinda Sue Godwin.
He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Rosalie Holt; one sister, Ethel Weldon; one brother, Billy Holt and wife Diana; children, John and Suzanne Holt, Jay and Sherry Holt, Lil and Mike Blansett, Joe Holt, Becky and Lee Fleming, and Deborah and Van Mitchell, and his baby girl, Diamond Marie. He is Pap-Paw to 26 grandchildren, Billie Jo, Betty Jo, Stuart, Andy, Julie, Travis, Drew, Tessa, Emily, Jaqie, Alex, Annie, Jason, George, Joey, Luke, Cody, Taylor, Corey, Brannan, Brad, Breanna, Blake, Vannah, Haley and Jack; and 17 great-grandchildren. There are also two special ladies that have been like daughters to him, Tammy Fox and Ann Lagonegro.
The family extends a special thanks to our family at Cornerstone Fellowship Church for all of their love and prayers, and Riverside Walter Reed Hospice.
Memorial services officiated by Pastor Chris Morgan were held Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 2243 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek, Va. 23035.
