Janette H. Hudgins, age 85, Mathews, Va., passed away after a long illness at Riverside Convalescent Center–Mathews on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Janette also worked as a sales clerk in local businesses for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Ray, and their son, Robert Forrest Hudgins.

She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Diggs and husband Carl; daughter-in-law, Diane Hudgins, all of Mathews; grandson, Jerry Hudgins and wife Becky and their children, Xavier, Isabell and Ivan of Kansas; grandson, Robbie Hudgins and wife Lynn and their children, Anna and Lauren of Mathews; granddaughter, Julie Nitzsche and husband Kurt and their children, Helen and Olivia of Stanardsville, Va.; granddaughter, Christy Van Buskirk and husband Patrick and their children, Maya and Chloe of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Erma Webb and Virginia Hughes of Mathews; also many nieces, nephews and friends, and a "special" devoted friend, Valarie Bass.

The family would like to thank Riverside Convalescent Center–Mathews for the care, love and concern shown to Janette and her family.

The family received friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. in Bethel UM Church with burial in Pear Tree Cemetery.
