James Watson Hall passed from this life into life everlasting on May 7, 2011, at his beloved farm in New Point, Mathews County, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian Ann Brooks Hall, and three daughters, Ann Hall Heely (William E. Heely) of Yorktown, Cynthia Hall-Glowacki (David Glowacki) of Chesapeake, and a granddaughter, Lauren Hall Merritt (Matthew Merritt), whom the Halls legally adopted, as well as his surviving sister, Carolyn Hall Bare of Lancaster, Pa. Jim was blessed with eight grandchildren, one of whom is deceased, and also four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Edward Fuller, a dear family friend from Raleigh, N.C., who was like a son to Jim.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of the College of William and Mary and was a high point man on the swim team there. While he lived in Smithfield, he represented Isle of Wight County on the Paul D. Camp Community College Board for many years. He was a member of the Smithfield Kiwanis Club and the Gatling Point Yacht Club, the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jim retired as a senior medical representative for Pfizer Laboratories. He recently joined Beulah United Methodist Church in New Point.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at his farm in New Point.
