A funeral for James R. "Reuben" Deal, 77, of Gloucester, was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Severn Church, Naxera. He died Feb. 25, 2012.

He was self-employed and was a member of Severn Church and a former member of the Williamsburg Exchange Club. He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene L. Deal, and her daughters; son, James W. Deal of Williamsburg; brother, Kenneth Earl; sister, Laura Francis Rothenbush, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Deal Sr. and Annie Pearl Deal; his brothers, George, John, William, and sister, Roselle Clough.
  The family received friends from 2-3 o’clock before the service, which was conducted by the Rev. William West.
