James Montague Hicks of Gloucester, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 16, 1946.
Jamie met Linda and her three children while attending LightHouse Worship Center. They received instruction before exchanging vows. Jesus relied on His “step-father” Joseph for a support system (Matthew 26:38). Their “blended” family included Bruce William Love, Aaron E. and Elizabeth Marie Love George and family, Kevin Thomas and Tiffany Elaine Love and family. Eight grandchildren were added along the way.
Survivors include cherished brother, William Chism Hicks and his wife Carolyn; beloved older sister, Percy Hicks Severn and her late husband Cliff. Jamie was predeceased by his oldest sister, Catherine (Patty) Hicks Zierow and her late husband Rolf Zierow. He was also predeceased by both his father and mother, Percy and Catherine Hicks, and treasured niece, Cheryl Hicks Roby. Left here to honor his memory are niece, Catherine Severn Diliberti and her husband Richard; his nephew, Rolf and Debbie Zierow and nephews, Clifford Severn, and William (Andy) Hicks, many cousins, relatives, and friends.
Jamie attended two schools during his lifetime. Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and the Miller School of the Albemarle in Charlottesville, Va.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at LightHouse Church, 4299 George Washington Memorial Highway in Hayes, Va. 23072. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gloucester Fire and Rescue Squad.
