James Lee Beamon, 82, of Gloucester, passed away at his home for the past year on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.
He was born in Hillsville, Va., and was raised in Hampton, Va. He was the son of the late William Earl Beamon and Mary Ethel Smith Beamon.
James was retired from the former C&O (now CSX) Railroad and was a member of East Hampton United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader for 10 years and also attended Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a 1950 graduate of Hampton High School. He delivered the Daily Press in the East Hampton Section from the age of 12-18 and he loved golf and also served in the Air Force during the Korean War era.
He is survived by his sister, Betty B. Mayo and her husband Mike of Gloucester; aunt, Mabel Dalton of Hampton; nieces, Kinky Sawyer and her husband Tim, and Kylee Simpson, and cousins, Joann Allen, Donna Price, Pat Price, Richard Price, Candy Champine, and Randy Price.
The family received friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, from 6-7:30 p.m. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Parklawn Memorial Park by Pastor Ed Merry.

The family would like to give special thanks to his home care nurse, Angela Payten, for the special care that she gave James.
