A funeral service for James Eddie Cooke, age 90, was held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Knight Funeral Home, Mathews. Burial was in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Cobbs Creek, Va.

Mr. Cooke died on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. He was a native of Mathews County and had lived for many years in New Jersey.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalind McDonald; grandsons, Alfie and Samuel McDonald; sister, Alvina Cooke; brother, William Cooke, and many other relatives.
