James David Roberts Jr. “David” “Hillbilly,” age 59, of Hayes, passed on Monday, January 20, 2024. David was born on April 10, 1965 to Mavis “Joyce” McMillion and James David Roberts Sr. David had been a welder for over 38 years. He previously worked with Jeff’s Mobile Welding for six years. He was a funny person, and he could say anything to make you laugh and have a smile on your face. He loved spending time with his children and adored his grandchildren. He also loved his dog Coot. He will be missed by many; he was truly a special man. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and best friend. David is survived by his wife, Michele Roberts; his son, Joshua Roberts; his daughter, Taylor Roberts (Zack); his two stepchildren, Amber Jalink and Eddy Jalink (family); along with seven grandchildren, Layla Penland, Zoey Penland, Braxten Penland, Mayson Penland, Delilah Creech, Ryleigh Wilson, and Natalie Wilson. He will be missed by many, but he was truly a special man. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 6-7 p.m. The inurnment is private.
