James Brown finds his way home after five months

“We kind of gave up hope because it had been five months.”
After nearly half a year, Lauren and Allen McBurney thought their missing cat, James Brown, was gone for good. On Feb. 3, the couple received a surprise call that would ultimately heal their family after the devastating loss.
“We used to live in Cobbs Creek next to Swords Marine,” said Lauren.
James Brown first appeared several years ago at Allen’s home in Cobbs Creek. He named the feral black cat “James Brown,” who made himself a frequent visitor to Allen’s yard. Once Lauren moved in, she decided she wanted to make James Brown an official part of the family.
“He became an inside cat for the most part,” said Lauren.
James Brown quickly fit in with the family, which included two cat siblings. “He is just the sweetest boy,” said Lauren.
The couple made the move from Cobbs Creek to the Mathews Court House area last summer.
“We got him in the car,” said Lauren. “We got him here.”
