Petya Ivanova is the featured artist of the month for June at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews. Her work is on display in the Art Speaks Gallery on Main Street.
Ivanova was born in Bulgaria and resides in Virginia Beach. She has exhibited consistently for the past 25 years, both nationally and internationally, holding solo exhibitions in Europe and in the U.S., said a press release. She has won several national and international prizes, and her works belong to private and government collections in Europe and the U.S., including Old Dominion University.
The artist’s paintings seek to expose the beauty and the harmony of women’s identities, said the release. She uses symbols that she finds in native art and myths, as well as traditions stemming from the roots of her native region. For more information, visit bayschool-arts.com.
