Longtime Gloucester resident, Iva "Jinx" Davis, passed peacefully at home on Oct. 27, 2011, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Somerset County, Md., in 1924 she was a WWII widow and three-time cancer survivor. She loved traveling in her younger days and cherished her time spent in Alaska. She retired from Rite-Aid as a District Cosmetic Manager.
Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her great-grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening and a love for birds. She often commented on how blessed she was to have the best doctors and medical teams to support her through all of her cancer battles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Davis, and daughter, Joyce Watson.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jenkins and husband George; son, John Brady of Baltimore, Md., and Nathan Birch of Mass.; brother, Ben Long of Baltimore; grandchildren, Carrie Dumont, Joanna Sibley and husband Joe, Tracie Tillage and husband Tim, John Brady IV, Chris Brady and wife Kathleen; great-grandchildren, Paige and Blake Sibley, Madalyn and Ashton Tillage, and Asher and Eden Brady.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Bellamy United Methodist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Waclo. Burial was in Bellamy Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-5:30 p.m.
