Fiorello Ristorante Italiano at the White Marsh Shopping Center is Gloucester’s newest authentic Italian restaurant. Owners Giacomo Bertuglia and Ricardo Bacelar opened the doors of the establishment on Tuesday and are serving guests generous portions of freshly made Italian dishes.
Bertuglia and Bacelar may be familiar to some in the area as they were the owners of former Mathews County restaurant Pelican Cove. The two have spent the last few years operating a different Fiorello Ristorante Italiano in Newport News but decided to move back to this side of the York River because of their familiarity with and fondness for the area.
Bertuglia was born in Italy and previously lived in New York where he owned restaurants in Long Island. The second-generation restaurateur moved to Virginia in 2005 with his family who have also opened other restaurants in Virginia.
