A group of 125 paddlers, mostly in kayaks (although a few brave souls took part on stand-up paddleboards) took part in Saturday’s Islander Regatta, a nine-mile circumnavigation of Gwynn’s Island. The Islander Regatta is a project of the Mathews Outdoor Club. Participation has more than doubled in its second year (60 paddlers took part in 2023) and plans are already underway for the 2025 event, which will be held on Saturday, June 28. Recent Mathews High School graduate Aiden Sowers began the event with a performance of the National Anthem on the harp.
