Island crowd enjoys a watermelon party

A watermelon party was given at the home of Miss Bernice Callis on Gwynn’s Island on Tuesday evening last. Quite a large number of her friends were present and all report a dandy good time and hope Miss Callis may have another in the very near future.
Quite a large number of the young folks of the Island went to Middlesex to the skating rink Friday night last. They all report a jolly time, although it was morning when they reached home. They all anticipate going again.

Corporal Julian B. Fox, who has been in France for a number of months, has recently been sending to several of his Mathews friends souvenirs from the battle fields of France. Several days ago there was received here a German helmet and a gas mask, and on Saturday another helmet was received.
