Irving Thomas (I.T.) Turpin, 79, of Port Haywood, passed away at home March 29, 2015, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure, with his loving family by his side.
Irving was born in Mathews, Va., on Dec. 8, 1935 to the late James T. and Helen H. Turpin. He worked for McLean Contracting for 20 years as a crane operator and manager of Brighton Farm, for 30 years. He always loved being on the water, whether it was working, gill netting, clamming with his buddies or fishing, and especially enjoyed his Nascar races on weekends.
Irving will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Countess; adoring daughters, Maxine Hudgins (Ronnie), Dianne Hurst (Mike), Carolyn K. Turpin and Denise Fletcher (Howard); his sister, Peggy T. Mackey; nine grandchildren, Ron Hudgins Jr. (Amber), Rhonda Ramsey (Robert), Michael Hurst (Tasha), Stacie Wiatt (Ricky), Robbie Hudgins, Brent Haywood (Kayla) and Brandon Haywood (Lindsay), Jessica Day (Mike), and Cameron Fletcher, and 10 great-grandchildren, Layla, Landon, Abigail, Brody, Michael Alexander, Jack, Mckinley, Tristan, Rhiannon and Brendon.
A funeral service was held at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 1 p.m.
