SHEPHERD’S PIE
(Cottage Pie) 
1½ lbs. ground beef (may substitute ground lamb)
2-4 c. cooked carrots, peas, or vegetable of choice
4 large potatoes
Add-ins for mashed potatoes (milk, butter, sour cream, cream cheese, etc.)
1 pkg. gravy mix
8 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
Brown ground beef and drain fat. Add gravy mix and stir completely. Add approximately 1/3 c. water to beef/gravy mixture. Layer in bottom of 9x13 pan.
Cook carrots/veggies (in broth for extra flavor). Chop into small pieces if necessary. Spread gently over beef layer.
Boil potatoes (in broth for extra flavor) for approximately 20 minutes. Mash the way you like best (with butter, salt, milk, sour cream). Spread gently over veggie layer. Top potato layer with grated cheddar cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly, about 40 minutes.
Serves approximately 6.  Can be made ahead and frozen.
