Irene Daniel Stroop, 87, of Gloucester, died Sept. 8, 2013 at her home.

A mother and homemaker, she had also worked outside the home at Dutton Grocery. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She loved meeting and talking with people, was an avid reader and a hard- working lady. She will be remembered for her love and kindness by everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald S. Stroop; children, David Earl Putnam (Sharon), Georgette Knudsen (John), Kevin Dale Stroop (Tricia), and Lori Quail (Billy); brother, Johnny Daniel; grandchildren, Rodney Putnam, Joshua Knudsen and Derek Stroop; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
