Info meeting to focus on regulations for environmentally sensitive areas

An informational meeting to help developers and other owners of land in environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs) is set for Thursday, Nov. 7, from 1-4 p.m. at the Gloucester Library, Main Street Center.

The program is being held by Gloucester County’s Environmental Programs Division, in cooperation with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission and Army Corps of Engineers.

The program is aimed at developers as well as property owners, especially those who own waterfront homes, Gloucester’s environmental programs administrator Scott Rae said. ESAs are defined as a type of designation for an area that needs special protection because of its landscape or wildlife.

Speakers will include Alicia Riley of the Corps of Engineers, Chip Neikirk of VMRC and Rae.
