Hurricane Floyd

With all eyes on the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas and elsewhere in the Southeastern U.S., we are reminded of a hurricane that struck this community a quarter century ago. In mid-September 1999, Hurricane Floyd caused significant damage in Gloucester and Mathews counties, including washing out a section of the approach road to Ferry Creek Bridge on Route 198 near Harcum, above.
