Hudgins seeks second term on Mathews BOS

Paul Hudgins, 53, of Cardinal, has announced his candidacy for reelection to the Mathews County Board of Supervisors in the Nov. 7 election. One of three supervisors whose term ends this year, Hudgins is running as an independent.
Hudgins said he supports keeping taxes low and finding ways to make sure the county can achieve lower taxes. He said he supports small business growth and making public access areas more accessible to the public.
A native of Mathews, Hudgins attended Mathews High School and has been the self-employed owner of Hudgins Auto Body for the past 26 years. He has been a member of Mathews Volunteer Fire Department for the past 22 years.
Hudgins said he has four children—Mindy, James, Michael, and Marie, as well as one step-daughter, Kayla. He is engaged to Kathy Chandler.
There are nine candidates vying for the three at-large seats on the Mathews board. Also qualifying on the November ballot are Republicans Billy R. Cook Jr., Randall A. “Randy” Dobson and Patricia B....
