Hubbard takes checkered flag at VMS

It’s been 10 years since Billy Hubbard of Cobbs Creek tasted victory in the Late Model division at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. The wait is now over.
Hubbard, who took several years off from racing, took the lead from Buck Roadcap on lap 8 and then held off a furious charge by Justin Williams to get the win in Saturday’s Victory Lap Late Model 30-lap feature. In other action, Bobby Thompson claimed his first victory at the Middlesex County track, winning the Aaron’s Pro Late Model feature; Jeremiah Marshall won the 25-lap Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman race; Mike Reynolds placed first in the Budweiser Modified contest, and Bobby Curtis took the checkered flag in the Collision One Limited Stock Cars division.
Among local racers, Anthony Kincaid of Hayes took fifth place in Victory Lap Late Model race, Neal Hudgins of Grimstead came in fourth in the Aaron’s Pro Late Model feature, and Josh Harris of Gloucester finished fifth in the Budweiser Modi...
