Housing sales rise slightly in second quarter of 2024

Housing sales activity showed a slight rise across the area served by the Chesapeake Bay & Rivers Association of Realtors in the second quarter of 2024, with 331 homes sold from April 1 to June 30, according to a recently released report from the organization.
CBRAR is the realtor association serving Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties, as well as a portion of King and Queen County (the Buena Vista magisterial district) and the Town of West Point.
The 331 homes represent a 3 percent increase for the second quarter of 2023, when 322 homes were sold.
While sales ticked up slightly, homes spent more time on the market than last year, according to the report. “The median sales price continued to rise amid affordability challenges. Listings were up in all local markets, which contributed to the growth in inventory,” the report stated.
