Hospice volunteers

Lydia Foster, at left, spoke to the Mathews County Woman’s Club on Monday about Riverside Walter Reed Hospice in Gloucester. Foster, coordinator of volunteer support services, discussed the need for volunteers who can assist with music, talking to families, being supportive, and facilitating memory journaling with the patients. In addition, Foster said, there is art therapy, pet therapy and helping to put administrative packets together. Hospice usually need 18 volunteers who can set their own days and hours.
