Gloucester High School’s Guy Crittenden (#34) heads to the hoop in a 1979 game for the Dukes. Crittenden didn’t make his mark on the basketball court, but has since found fame as a talented artist of landscapes, wildlife and sporting scenes. The acclaimed Richmond-based artist is a seven-time winner of the Virginia Duck Stamp, and has won duck stamp competitions in a dozen other states as well. He is a signature member of the Outdoor Painters Society and works mainly on commissions and large originals for private and corporate clients. Basketball season has returned, with Gloucester and Mathews high school teams playing in scrimmages this past week.
