Ellis Hall of Gloucester, right, who turned 100 years old on Tuesday, was honored Sunday at Newington Baptist Church where he has been a stalwart member for more than 60 years. As an appropriate gift, church members donated enough money to pay for 350 Bibles for presentation to Gideon International, of which Hall is a longtime member and speaker. At left, the Rev. Mike Gray, pastor, presents a card from the church to Hall during the morning worship service. In addition, Hall, a retired businessman, was honored Saturday afternoon during an open house at Newington. He remains active in his church and the community, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, conducting Bible study at nursing homes, working in jail ministry, gardening and playing golf. He is also a member of the Gloucester Rotary Club.
