Bay Aging’s Homeless Solutions program recently received a 2021 Aging Innovations Award from the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, the highest honor presented by the association to its member agencies.Homeless Solutions uses a hub-and-spoke model focused on housing to provide safety and stability for older adults experiencing homelessness.
The 2021 Aging Innovations and Achievement Awards recognizes Area Agencies on Aging and Title VI Native American Aging Programs that develop and implement cutting-edge approaches to support older adults, people with disabilities and their family caregivers.
Bay Aging’s Homeless Solutions program serves as a model for bridging the gap between AAAs and homeless services. Through cooperation with the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula Housing Coalition, Bay Aging quickly identifies older adults experiencing homelessness and matches them to unique housing that meets their needs and limits the amount of time spent homeless.
