Home health care service opens Gloucester office

Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services recently opened an employee staffing center on Lewis Avenue in Gloucester Court House.

The new office is headed by Darnley Adamson, regional manager. Frank J. McCarthy, who started the local Visiting Angels operation in Kilmarnock four years ago, is director and owner.

McCarthy said that Visiting Angels employs over 85 caregivers throughout its Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck service area. They are supported by a management staff of five, including McCarthy, Adamson, community liaison Karen Wilkins, and two registered nurses.

The business, which is a franchise of a Pennsylvania-based company that has over 425 franchisees throughout the country, provides personal and companion care services, McCarthy said. "If one is to be operating a home-care agency, it is important to remain focused entirely on home care," he said.
