The Colonial Virginia Holly Society will have its fall meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Watermen’s Hall, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gloucester Point.
Speakers will include:
Gordon Chapell, landscape architect, on using hollies in a home garden landscape;
Mike Pontti, landscape superintendent at Georgetown University and registrar for new hollies at the National Arboretum, advice on plant selection and care; and
Renee Frith, curator for woody plants at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, on its collection and types that do well in this area.
After a box lunch, George McLellan of Brent and Becky’s, Gloucester, will auction hollies and other plants sourced from specialty nurseries in the mid-Atlantic region
A release said this meeting is a chance to ask the experts anything you need to know about hollies.
